The secret recipe for Nina's New Orleans Candied Pecans

Everyone will enjoy this easy southern treat! How do you pronounce: Pecan or Pecon?


1 pound pecan halves
1 egg white
2 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon water
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt

Pre-heat oven to 225 degrees. Line a large cookie sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, add all the ingredients except pecans.  Mix thoroughly then add the pecan mixture until every pecan is completely coated in the sugar mixture.

Pour the pecan mixture onto parchment paper. I like to use a large spoon and hold the mixture high above the cookie sheet. When it drops, it will help the pecan mixture to separate.

When all the pecans are separated, place in the oven and bake for 60 minutes at 225 degrees. After 40 minutes, you can mix the pecans. After 60 minutes, remove from the oven and let cool.
