A plate of beignets covered in powdered sugar

INSTRUCTIONS

Combine water, butter, sugar and yeast. Cook in small pot on medium to low heat. Cook until the butter is melted and ingredients are mixed together. In a separate bowl, add the flour and the warm mixture together. Mix well. Add 1 egg at a time and continue to mix well. Cover with cling wrap and let set for a few hours.

When ready to cook, pour the vegetable oil until it’s 1-inch deep and heat to 375 degrees for frying. Make sure it’s no hotter than 375! Lightly flour a flat surface and place beignet dough in the middle. Lightly flour the top of the dough and press 1/4-inch thickness. Cut dough into 2 inch squares and place into hot oil. Brown on both sides and place on a platter. Cover with a generous amount of powdered sugar.

Serve with strong hot coffee with warm milk. I like to drink Community Coffee with chicory with my beignets! Get some Community Coffee by clicking HERE!
